Work

What is their to say about work. It sucks, but unfortunately it is needed to live. I don't mind my job but the one thing that really bothers me about it is the pay that I receive. I am a University graduate and whenever I get together with my best friends from University the majority of them are making way more money than I am. That really bothers me since I know that I am a smart person.

I am trying to work from home as an independent contractor so that I can make more money than I am making now. The only thing holding me back is I need to make some investments into some equipment (Phone, computer, etc.) Hopefully I am able to do that soon as I can because I have done the math and the earning potential is much higher.

Ten minutes ago a friend messaged me and asked me if I wanted to get a business going for him that he has started up. We are going to formulate a business plan and hopefully that will go well because that is ultimately my dream job is to work for myself.

Cougar Love

So people who know me know that I love Jax night club. People often ask me why I love that place so much. Well most of it has to do with the fact that my buddy is the manager and I only started to go there because of him. After a few years had passed I got to know pretty much all the staff because of him and some of the after parties. So I am pretty much to the point where I can go there any night and have a good time because I will know most of the people working there.

Jax is the type of crowd that is more "mature" than most of the bars or nightclubs in the city so I like it for the fact that there aren't 18 year old girls who are more concerned with their image than having fun. If anyone is familiar with the word "cougar" and what it means, well there are a lot of cougars at Jax. My love for speaker dancing and cougars has led to some interesting nights. The best way for me to sum up how I feel when I am at Jax are the following lyrics:

She was a bottle blonde
She had her 7's on
When I think about it now
Just a cougar on the prowl
She was hotter then hell
Had me under her spell
Got that ass doin yoga
Didn't care that shes older

Got off the stage
Ended up at her place
We were burning up the bed
Fire needed to be fed
Mornin sun hit her face
Maggie May showed her age
And I remember what my Mama said

Don't talk to strangers
Don't do all your thinking with your little head
Like mama said, just like mama said
My mama said
Don't talk to strangers
Just wrap it up so you don't wind up dead
Like mama said, just like Mama said
My mama said

She likes em nice and young
She likes em fresh and hungry
With fire in her eyes
Lets you try her on for size
Show you a trick or two
To teach you somethin new
Full of bacardi and botox
Shes forty and so hot
The light of the day
Had somethin different to say
My head started to spin
When I saw her son walkin in
I'll bet he felt like a fool
Cuz I knew him from school
And I remembered what my Mama said

Don't talk to strangers
Don't do all your thinking with your little head
Like mama said, just like mama said
My mama said
Don't talk to strangers
Just wrap it up so you don't wind up dead
Like mama said, just like Mama said
My mama said

Hey pretty lady it's crazy
You're almost twice my age
I wanna dance on your body
The way I shake it on stage
Hey pretty lady it's crazy
You're almost twice my age
I wanna dance on your body
The way I shake it on stage
Hey pretty lady it's crazy
You're almost twice my age
I wanna dance on your body
The way I shake it on stage
Hey pretty lady it's crazy
You're almost twice my age
I wanna dance on your body
The way I shake it on stage

Don't talk to strangers
Don't do all the thinkin with your little head

Don't talk to strangers
Don't do all your thinking with your little head
Like mama said, just like mama said
My mama said
Don't talk to strangers
Just wrap it up so you don't wind up dead
Like mama said, just like Mama said
My mama said

When I first heard this song by Hedley I wondered if it was somehow written about me about witnessing a night of me at Jax, seems very familiar to a few nights that I've been at Jax.

Christmas Update Part II

So we have started a new tradition at our house for Christmas. My mom invites the Clark side of my family to her place every year for Christmas. On the surface I must commend my mother for being the type of person that divorced my dad but can still remain so close to the dad's side of the family. You hear so many broken home stories but luckily for me this really doesn't apply because there is no hostility and there are never any awkward situations.

I love Christmas because it gives me an opportunity to hang out with my family and play games and not have to worry about every day stresses like work and more recently transportation. It also gives me a chance to act like a kid. For some reason my cousins love me and always want to play games with me and I think that's because deep down inside I do. This year two of my cousins couldn't attend because their family had World Junior hockey tickets and didn't want to miss any games so they couldn't bother me that day. Two of my other cousins are starting to get to the age where they want to play. Eric is 4 and Brynn is 2 and Brynn likes to run around saying "You can't catch me!" I like to ignore her for a little while and then she starts to get more aggressive in trying to get my attention, so whenever she gets close enough I turn around and grab her yelling "I got you!"

The Clark side of our family also loves to play games so it was real nice playing games with around 20 family members and seeing new faces for the first time in quite some time.

Christmas update -- Part I

Alright, so I'm doing this for you Casey..... don't you go forgetting this now.

I guess there have been a few updates that need to be posted in my life for this blog but I don't want it to take forever so I'll just highlight a few.

Christmas was in December and I have had incredible car trouble over the last few years. I had a Mercedes that I had to replace the transmission in it on 3 separate occassions. After the 3 time I figured it was time to get a new vehicle. The search hasn't exactly gone as planned and I am now driving my grandma's 89 Crown Victoria (I must say that it is quite a different vehicle than the Mercedes). To make a long story short, I started having issues with her cars and it was in the shop over Christmas. So I am working on the 24th until 4:30 PM and I need to catch the bus downtown at 5:30. The trick is I have to get home and then pack first. I convinced Len to let me go at 3:45 so that I can take the bus home so that I have some time to take a cab downtown. I get home and get packed and it is around 4:35 pm at this time. I use a cell phone and my home phone to call 2 cab companies to see which one I get first. Eventually I get Comfort Cabs and they tell me that the cab will be around right away. 10 minutes pass and I phone them back and they say that it will be right away in a blue intrepid. 15 more minutes pass and I call them back and he says that he will send one right away. Finally around 5:20 the cab shows up at my place and I ask him if he can get downtown in 10 minutes in all the ice and snow that is on the street. He says no and I tell him that I don't need him.

After the whole taxi debacle I am very pissed off because the next bus to North Battleford doesn't leave until midnight. So I call my mom telling her the bad news and she is very disappointed because she wants her son home for Christmas. So to kill time I call my buddy Johnny and ask him if he wants to go out for a Christmas drink and the following exchange occurs:

"Hey man, what's up?"
Johnny: "Just driving home, you?"
"Well, I just missed my ******* bus cause Comfort Cabs doesn't know how to book a ******* cab."
Johnny: "You sound a little upset?
"You think? Wanna go for some Christmas cheer, I have to kill 6 hours before the next bus leaves?"
Johnny: "That sucks, well how about I just drive you home and then I'll drive back here."
"What do you mean, I'm already home?"
Johnny: "I mean home to North Battleford."
"Are you serious? Don't you have Christmas plans? I don't want you driving me back all the way home on Christmas Eve."
Johnny: "No man, Alysha is working til 11 anyway so I have to wait for her. There's only one thing..."
"What's that?"
Johnny: "I'll need you to pay for gas"
"Not a problem."

So he drove me back to North Battleford and we had quite the talk in our 1 and half trip. It had been quite some time since we hung out so it was nice. As we were approaching home I told him that we should play a joke on my mom. What we did is I told Johnny to pull up to my mom's house, knock on the door and ask if her son's were home yet, I stood outside hiding and heard her say that I wasn't going to be home until later and then she invited him inside as it was -30 at the time. After they went in the house I snuck in and was in the middle of the hall when my mom came around the kitchen mid conversation and stopped stunned looking at me. She then gave Johnny a big hug for bringing me home. Soon my brother arrived and we enjoyed some supper and a couple drinks. The 3 of us then enjoyed a Cuban cigar outside in the freezing cold before Johnny had to go home.

It was probably one of the best presents that I had received for Christmas.
